YOUNG PEOPLE COLOURING IN DIVERSITY
Recalling the activity, carried out in May 2022, called: "Young people colouring in diversity", which consisted of both the design and the process of selecting colours and painting 6 murals on the exterior wall of IES Orriols.
The aim of this activity was to highlight the richness of the diversity of the neighbourhood, as well as to promote creativity and awareness in the framework of European values of tolerance, respect, equality and integration of the youth population and the general community. This activity was carried out by a group of 13 youth activists together with a larger group of young people who painted the murals.
Three stages can be highlighted in the process of carrying them out. Firstly, the design stage, which consisted of the creation of 40 proposals. The second part consisted of drawing the chosen sketches. And finally, the respective murals were painted with the help of 140 young people, together with 10 delegates from different organisations in our neighbourhood.
Taking advantage of the approaching spring, the young people will make an observation of the murals in order to renovate them for their conservation, helping to value the effort invested by young people in the realization of the murals mentioned, contributing to the revitalization of various public spaces.
All the above activity is framed within the project "Young people from different backgrounds working together at the community level to build an inclusive and supportive post-covid-19 Europe” which is being developed between several European cities throughout 2022-2023 by Valencia Acoge with Cantiere Giovani Cooperativa Sociale ONLUS and InterEuropean Human Aid Association Germany e.V.
